Rowynn Auxin Ellis is a professional fantasy illustrator and author from Bangor in North Cymru. 

 

Their work is inspired by fantasy, mythology and Welsh folklore and they work mainly with pen, ink, watercolour combined with digital media.

 

They attended Wrexham University and achieved a Degree in illustration and a Masters in Design Communication. Over the years Rowynn has worked with a number of clients including; Wizards of the Coast, Magic the Gathering, Eye of Newt Press, Astra Publishing, Rebellion Publishing House, Solaris, DAW and Displate. They have also launched several successful Kickstarter campaigns, one of which lead to the international publication of their book ‘Welsh Monsters & Mythical Beasts’ a guide to the mythical creatures of Welsh folklore. 

 

Rowynn has also appeared on the BBC Wales Today show, Welsh TV channel S4C’s arts program Y Lle and has appeared as a guest and panellist at MCM Comic Con Events. They have been featured in magazines and publications including Infected by Art, Imagine FX and Nerdist Magazine. 

 

Currently Rowynn is working on a series of personal projects documenting Welsh Folklore. Their aim; to create published resources that take you on a journey through the symbolism and history of Cymru’s most renowned folk takes, customs and mythical creatures.
