The Vaults Project

What will it look like?

Victorian tradition

The design and storytelling of the venue will be inspired by Victorian history, and its architecture will be in-keeping with nearby buildings and Victorian architecture in general.

Minimal impact

We are committed to preserving the natural beauty and integrity of the area. Environmental assessments are being conducted to mitigate any potential impacts, and we will take all necessary steps to protect local wildlife and ecosystems.

Cultural preservation

The project has been developed in consultation with local historians, artists, and digital designers, ensuring that Llandudno Vaults stays true to Victorian origins and Welsh culture while delivering an engaging, high-tech experience.

What could The Vaults do for Llandudno?

Increased Tourism & Footfall

  • Llandudno Vaults would be a one-of-a-kind attraction, drawing both domestic and international tourists interested in immersive experiences, history, and mythology.
  • The Vaults would give visitors another reason to stay longer in Llandudno, increasing overnight visits and boosting overall spending in the area.
  • It could help establish Llandudno as a more year-round destination, reducing its reliance on seasonal summer tourism.

Economic Growth & Local Business Boost

  • More visitors means more spending in local hotels, B&Bs, restaurants, cafés, and pubs.
  • Nearby attractions, such as the Cable Car and Copper Mines, could also see increased visitor numbers as people look for things to do before or after visiting the Vaults.
  • Increased footfall in Mostyn Street and surrounding areas could benefit independent retailers and encourage new business ventures.

Job Creation & Skills Development

  • The project would create construction jobs in the short term, retail and customer service jobs in the long term.
  • It will create specialist roles, such as immersive experience designers, sound engineers, and tour guides, creating a unique employment niche in Llandudno.
  • Opportunities for apprenticeships and internships in tourism, marketing, event planning, and historical preservation.

Cultural & Heritage Promotion

  • The Vaults will showcase Welsh myths and stories, helping to revive and celebrate local folklore, creating a cultural hub.
  • It will educate visitors about the history of the Victorian reservoir and its role in Llandudno’s past.
  • We will collaborate with schools, universities, and historical societies to offer educational workshops and tours, tying into the Welsh curriculum.

Community Engagement & Local Pride

  • A unique attraction like the Vaults could become a source of local pride, offering discounts or membership schemes for residents to keep them engaged.
  • Opportunities for local artists, performers, and historians to contribute to exhibits, storytelling, and live events.
  • Could act as a hub for local festivals, special events, and heritage celebrations.

Diversification of Llandudno’s Attractions

  • Currently, Llandudno is best known for its beaches, Victorian charm, and the Great Orme, but the Vaults would add a completely new type of attraction.
  • This would help attract a younger, more diverse audience, including thrill seekers and fans of immersive experiences.
  • The Vaults would complement Llandudno’s existing heritage tourism while adding a more modern, tech-driven experience.

Off-Peak & Evening Economy Boost

  • Many of Llandudno’s attractions close early, limiting entertainment options in the evening. The Vaults could offer after-dark tours, themed events, and nighttime experiences, keeping visitors in town longer.
  • More dining and drinking opportunities for visitors who want to extend their experience beyond the Vaults.
  • Encourages more year-round tourism, particularly in autumn and winter, when Llandudno typically experiences lower footfall.

Potential for Expansion & Collaboration

  • If successful, the Vaults could expand its experience to include new interactive exhibits and seasonal attractions.
  • Collaborations with escape rooms, ghost tours, and historical re-enactment groups could create linked experiences, encouraging visitors to explore more of Llandudno.
  • Could lead to spin-off experiences, such as VR games, digital storytelling apps, or pop-up Vaults-themed experiences in other locations.

A game-changer for Llandudno?

Llandudno Vaults has the potential to revitalize local tourism, support businesses, create jobs, and enhance Llandudno’s reputation as a unique destination. By blending history, technology, and mythology, it could put Llandudno on the map for visitors looking for something truly different and unforgettable.

It’s not just a new attraction—it’s a huge opportunity for the town’s future.
